A grand Scottish tradition has been the celebration of the birth of Scotland's greatest poet, Robert Burns, born on January 25, 1759. This year celebrates the 251th anniversary of his birth.
Clan Donald brought that tradition to Northeast Wisconsin. On January 22, 2010, the band held its first annual Burns Night Supper in celebration. This is an annual tradition held through-out Scotland and many St. Andrew's Society organizations in the USA. The evening was full of Burns' poetry and song by Ian Day, the Caledonian Dancers, Bagpiping, a banquet of Scottish dishes including the traditional haggis, and traditional toasts.
Clan Donald is planning to repeat this tradition in 2011. Put Saturday, January 22, 2011 on your calendars at the Neenah, Wisconsin Bridgewood Conference Center. Stay tuned to this website for further information.
